2. Each week, work on breaking
one habit that leads to smoking. For instance, if you smoke three cigarettes with your morning cup of coffee, make
it a point of smoking only two, or maybe butting out the last one midway, rather than smoking the whole
thing.
If you have a couple of
cigarettes after eating, cut it down to only one. After you smoke the first one, get up and do something else to
take your mind off smoking.
Do this each day until this
becomes your new habit. This works because you are still smoking as usual but you're changing your "habit smoking"
so that you smoke less cigarettes.
Choose a new habit to work on
every week or so. The timelines don't matter. You are really just trying to turn the new reduced amount you smoke,

The goal should be something you can easily

5. There is no one right way to stop the

groups.

or forums where you can get encouragement and suggestions from others. You don't have to do this alone. Probably
your biggest support group will be your family, especially if they are non-smokers. Your children, if you have
them, would love for you to quit. Just ask them!
9. Avoid places that you associate with
smoking. If you take your break from work and spend it outside with the smokers, you will be putting temptation in
front of yourself needlessly. Find a new favorite spot to spend breaks and lunch, in a non-smoking area. Spending
time with non-smokers makes it easier not to smoke, than if you're surrounded by smokers.
